Insurance Requirements

What beauty businesses need to list on Model Call, and why insurance protects everyone.

Why insurance is mandatory

Model Call requires all listed businesses to hold appropriate insurance before their listings go live. This protects both the practitioner and the model in the event of an adverse outcome, and ensures that disputes and claims can be resolved properly.

Required coverage for businesses

Public Liability Insurance

$10 million minimum

Covers injury or property damage to a third party (including models) on your premises or as a result of your services.

Professional Indemnity Insurance

$2 million minimum

Covers claims arising from a professional service — for example, a model claiming financial loss or injury caused by a treatment you provided.

Products Liability

Included in most PL policies

Covers claims arising from products you apply during a treatment. Check that your policy explicitly includes products liability.

For student training sessions

If sessions are conducted by students, the supervising practitioner or the academy must hold all required insurance. Students themselves are not required to hold individual policies provided they are operating under a qualified supervisor’s coverage. The registered training organisation (RTO) typically holds its own public liability policy covering supervised student work.

Model Call holds its own business insurance but this does not extend to individual treatments offered by listed businesses. Businesses are solely responsible for maintaining adequate coverage for their services.
